As Inter Miami defeated Dallas on Sunday night to go to the Leagues Cup quarterfinals, Lionel Messi once again worked his magic.
Messi scored the game’s first goal after only six minutes in his first away match since going to the United States, but Dallas quickly altered the tide of the match.
Inter Miami was down 4-0 with ten minutes remaining. Marco Farfan then headed in his own goal off of a Messi pass.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner then tied the score with a free kick with five minutes remaining in regulation. The game was then decided by penalties.
Before Paxton Pomykal missed for Dallas, Messi converted Miami’s first penalty kick, giving the visitors a 5-3 victory.
