Official: Neymar returns to Barcelona for Barcelona’s La Liga title celebrations on Sunday
Neymar’s name has been floated as a potential target for Barcelona with PSG’s potential mass exodus in the coming summer. But while a return may no longer be an option for Neymar, the player was still present in the city yesterday.
This was announced by Gerard Romero, who claims that Neymar arrived in Barcelona yesterday to celebrate Barcelona’s title.
Barcelona beat Espanyol 4-2 at the RCDE Stadium to secure the league title. It was the first time the club had managed to secure the league in four years. It was also the first league win for Xavi Hernandez as head coach.
Neymar was in town to enjoy the special occasion. Romero further claims that the PSG frontman was given a two-day leave from the club, which is why he decided to return to Barcelona and have fun with the team. The player still has a good relationship with some older stars, including Jordi Alba and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Local paparazzi caught Neymar arriving at Barcelona airport. According to Romero’s team, the striker was partying with the rest of the Barcelona players at the Carpe Diem nightclub.
While Neymar’s career could take him elsewhere, his PSG team-mate Lionel Messi is still very much in contention to return to the Camp Nou this coming summer.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently expressed his desire to sign the Argentine in a press conference and it seems the club are ready to do everything in their power to facilitate the return of their prodigal son next season.
